Replacing Aluminum Wiring

Instead of the standard copper wire, many homes built between the 1960s and early 1970s have aluminum wiring, which is considered a safety hazard. Aluminum wiring connections can often break down or loosen up over time causing them to overheat and possibly start a fire at the outlet when appliances are plugged in. 1. If it’s safe to leave the aluminum wiring, we will restore them to their optimum condition by securing your aluminum wires with the Canadian Technical Safety BC approved method of using copper connectors, called pigtails, at outlets and circuit breakers to resolve potential fire dangers.
2. If copper connector pigtails are not safe to proceed with, then Kobalt Systems can perform a total home rewiring service, removing the dangerous aluminum wiring and replacing it with safer, more efficient copper wire that won’t pose a fire risk.

In the event your home needs to be rewired, we’ll have the outdated electrical system removed and replaced with new modern copper wiring.
